With a multidisciplinary approach that includes molecular biology, cell fluorescence and pharmacology, electrophysiology, and mimetic systems of membranes our activities involve the characterization and understanding of several molecular events that occur in the central nervous system. Current research efforts in LaNEF converge in three major areas: the molecular function of lipid signiling systems - with particular emphasis on the endogenous cannabinoid system, the molecular basis of the gating mechanism of ion channels and its modulation by lipids and drugs, and the anti-glioblastoma activity of several bioactive molecules.
